Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 August 2026
This policy explains what data is collected when you visit scaleops.ai, who collects it, why, and what rights you have over it. It covers the site's use of cookies, Google Analytics, and Google AdSense, including personalised advertising.
scaleops.ai is an independently operated technical publication. Throughout this policy, "we," "us," and "the site" refer to the operator of scaleops.ai, reachable at [email protected].
1. Summary
- The site itself does not ask you for any personal information. There is no account system, no contact form, no newsletter, and no comment section.
- Two third-party services run on every page: Google Analytics (audience measurement) and Google AdSense (advertising). Both set cookies and both process data about your visit.
- Google AdSense may serve personalised advertising based on data collected here and across other sites.
- If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, personalised advertising and analytics run only with your consent, collected through a consent banner.
- If you are a California resident, you may opt out of what the CCPA/CPRA classifies as the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
- Nothing collected here is sold to data brokers by us, and we do not maintain any marketing database.
2. Information collected automatically
When you load a page, standard technical information is processed to deliver it and to measure traffic. This includes:
- IP address (used by Google Analytics for coarse geographic location, then discarded or truncated depending on configuration)
- Browser type, version, and language
- Operating system and device category
- The page you requested and the page that referred you
- Date, time, and duration of the visit
- Interaction events such as scroll depth and outbound link clicks
This data is processed by Google on our behalf. We access it only in aggregate form through the Google Analytics interface. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine analytics data with any other source.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. The site uses the following categories.
| Cookie / technology | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Maintains session state | 2 years |
__gads, __gpi | Google AdSense | Ad delivery, frequency capping, measurement | Up to 13 months |
IDE, DSID | Google (doubleclick.net) | Ad personalisation and conversion measurement | Up to 13 months |
| Consent record | This site / consent tool | Remembers your consent choices | Up to 12 months |
Cookie names and durations are set by Google and may change. The authoritative and current list is maintained by Google at business.safety.google/adscookies.
Google may also use similar technologies including web beacons, pixel tags, and local storage for the same purposes described above.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Every major browser allows this, and blocking third-party cookies will prevent advertising cookies from being set. Doing so does not affect your ability to read anything on this site — no content is gated. Blocking cookies may mean you see less relevant advertising, or that your consent preferences are not remembered between visits.
4. Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-ZV4WB9LJ6H to understand which articles are read, how visitors arrive, and roughly where they are located. This informs editorial decisions and nothing else.
Google Analytics processes data as described in Google's Business Data Responsibility and Privacy Policy. Information on how Google uses data from sites that use its services is available at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Opting out of Google Analytics: Google provides a browser add-on that prevents Analytics from collecting data, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Google AdSense and personalised advertising
Advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense under publisher ID ca-pub-5502714143955562. Advertising revenue is what pays for hosting and domain costs.
How ad personalisation works
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and to other sites on the internet. This is what is meant by personalised advertising. Google may use information such as:
- Pages you have visited on this and other sites in Google's advertising network
- Inferred interest categories derived from that browsing
- Approximate location based on IP address
- Device and browser characteristics
- Previous interactions with ads, including clicks and impressions
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
Opting out of personalised advertising
You have several independent options:
- Google Ad Settings. Turn off ad personalisation across all Google services at myadcenter.google.com. Ads will still appear, but will not be personalised.
- Consent control. If you are in a region where consent is required, a consent message is presented before non-essential cookies are set, and you may withdraw or change your choices at any time through that same control.
- Industry opt-outs. The Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org, the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info, and for European users youronlinechoices.eu.
- Browser controls. Blocking third-party cookies prevents most ad personalisation.
Third-party vendors
Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may serve ads on this site through Google's platform. These vendors may also use cookies. Where such vendors are used, they are subject to Google's publisher policies, and you can review the list of Google's advertising partners at business.safety.google/adspartners.
6. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation and equivalent UK legislation apply to processing of your personal data. The legal bases relied upon are:
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a))
- For analytics cookies, advertising cookies, and personalised advertising. Consent is collected through a Google-certified consent management platform, served to visitors in applicable regions through the Google AdSense tag, before any non-essential cookie is set. Consent may be withdrawn at any time using the same control, with no effect on the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f))
- For the minimum technical processing required to deliver the site securely, including server logs used to detect abuse. Our legitimate interest is operating a functioning, secure website; this is balanced against your interests, and the data involved is limited and short-lived.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to: request access to personal data held about you; request rectification of inaccurate data; request erasure ("right to be forgotten"); request restriction of processing; object to processing based on legitimate interests; request data portability; and withdraw consent at any time.
Because this site holds no user accounts and no directly identifying records, most such requests concerning analytics or advertising data must be directed to Google, which acts as controller or joint controller for that processing. Google's process is documented at policies.google.com/privacy. We will assist with any request directed to us and will respond within one month as required by Article 12(3).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office; in EEA member states, your national data protection authority.
International transfers
Google processes data in the United States and other countries. Such transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, together with supplementary measures described in Google's documentation.
7. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you specific rights regarding your personal information.
Categories of information collected
In the twelve months preceding the date of this policy, the following categories as defined by the CCPA may have been collected through this site:
- Identifiers — IP address, cookie identifiers, device identifiers
- Internet or network activity — pages viewed, referring URLs, interaction with advertising
- Geolocation data — approximate location inferred from IP address, at city level or coarser
- Inferences — interest categories inferred by Google's advertising systems for ad personalisation
No sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA is knowingly collected. No personal information is collected directly from you, because the site provides no means of submitting any.
Sale and sharing
We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of third-party advertising cookies for personalised advertising may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under the broad definitions in the CCPA/CPRA, because information is made available to a third party for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Your California rights
- Right to know what categories of personal information are collected, the purposes, and the categories of third parties involved — described in this policy.
- Right to delete personal information collected about you, subject to statutory exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information (not applicable, as none is collected).
- Right to non-discrimination — exercising any of these rights will not change the content or functionality available to you. All content on this site is free and unrestricted regardless of your choices.
To opt out of sale/sharing: disable ad personalisation at myadcenter.google.com, use the opt-out mechanisms listed in section 5, block third-party cookies in your browser, or enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) in a supporting browser — GPC signals are honoured where transmitted. You may also email [email protected] with "CCPA opt-out request" in the subject line.
Requests may be submitted by you or by an authorised agent. Because no account system exists, verification is necessarily limited; we may ask for information sufficient to reasonably match the request to data held.
8. Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting configured in the property, which is set to the shortest interval consistent with useful year-over-year comparison. Advertising cookies expire according to the durations in section 3. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle the matter it concerns.
9. Children
This site is intended for a professional technical audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and it will be deleted.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. It is a static site with no database, no user accounts, and no server-side processing of user input, which substantially limits the categories of data that could be exposed. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and no absolute guarantee can be given.
11. External links
Articles link to third-party documentation, tools, and other publications. Those sites have their own privacy practices and this policy does not cover them. No affiliate or paid links are used anywhere on this site.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in practice, technology, or law. Material changes will be signalled by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
13. Contact
For any question about this policy, or to exercise any right described in it, email [email protected] with the nature of the request in the subject line. See also the contact page.
